 Marion County has quite a storied past and we are currently developing our future.  Coal production has remained strong and the oil and gas industry is making substantial investments in the county. With a strong emphasis on education and technology, our future is bright. We are located in north central West Virginia with a population of roughly 56,000.

Online filing is no longer available for the 2013 Assessment Year. Filing for the 2014 Assessment Year will be available July 1, 2013 through October 1, 2013. We hope you will take advantage of this quick way to file your personal property taxes.

The Fairmont-Marion County Transit Authority prides itself on providing clean, safe and efficient service throughout Marion County.  We travel over 500,000 miles a year which translates to about 1600 miles a day.  We value our customers and our slogan states... "There's a lot riding on it!".  We do everything possible to get our passengers where they need to be when they need to be there.  We provide regular route runs and we provide paratransit and non-emergency medical transportation.  We help the citizens of Marion County get to work everyday, to doctors visits and even to shopping centers.
