CITY TYPE ADDRESSING |
Richard Walton, MARION COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION |
City
Type Addressing was initiated by the Marion County
Commission in cooperation with the U.S. Postal Service in
the fall of 1997 to convert rural mail routes to city-type
addresses for all residents of Marion County. It
is a nation-wide program. The mission of the project is two-fold in nature:
If you are moving to a
new location in Marion County, or an adjoining county,
and/or are planning a new residential development or a
single entity, please contact the Marion County Planning
Commission for assistance. The committee meets on the second Monday of each month in room 104 of the J. Harper Meredith Building, at 10:00 A.M. Services
Provided Provide addresses consisting of a street name and unique house number to the residents of Marion County. Developers are urged to contact the committee prior to construction of subdivisions in order for proper addresses to be assigned prior to occupancy. A plat of the subdivision drawn to scale can be used to expedite the process. Guidelines 1. Current Street names will remain unless it is a duplication. 2. There will be only one correct name per street. 3. Any road with two or more residences should be named. 4. Even numbers will be assigned on the right side of the road, and odd numbers will be assigned on the left side of the road from the point of the roads beginning. 5.
The number will be assigned from the street that the
front door or main entrance of the house faces. |
